Adult Ministries

Deacons

Mission Statement: The Deacons shall support the Pastor in total ministry programs of the Church, including but not limited to visiting the sick, serving communion and assist with all other ministries in the fulfillment of their mission.  For more information, contact Deacon George Trabue.


Deaconess

Mission Statement: The Deaconess Ministry is responsible for preparing the communion elements, dressing candidates for baptism, visiting the sick (particularly women), counseling and serving as role models for the young ladies of the church and community. Christian Education

Mission Statement: Commitment to reaching, teaching and keeping of children, youth and adults for the Lord Jesus Christ. Sunday School is held each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to participate in one of our Bible-teaching classes. Classes include New Member, Traditional Men’s and Women’s Classes and First Lady Paulastyne Moore’s Elective Women’s Class, and classes for children ages 2-6 and first grade through college. Higher Education

Mission Statement: The OMBC has the Student for Higher Education Encouragement Program (SHEEP), which is designed to incorporate college students in the life of church through spiritual growth, outreach, fellowship and exercise the talents/gifts, along with financial support.

The OMBC Higher Education ministry works to promote and encourage academic success. This ministry currently supports more than 45 OMBC members in two-year, four-year or graduate study coursework. Music Ministry

Mission Statement: The music department’s focus is to share a balanced music ministry consisting of hymns, spirituals, praise and worship, gospel and contemporary music. A Praise Team was created to be available and ready to assist the music department in devotion and praise, prior to the worship service.
Enrollment in the OMBC music ministry is open throughout the year. The Praise Team and Mass Choir sing every first, second and third Sundays during 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. service. The Male Chorus sings every fifth Sunday. For more information, contact Sis. Denise Johnson and Bro. Herschelle McGuire.

Men’s Ministry

Mission Statement: The purpose of the Men’s Ministry is to help men keep their covenant with God. To assist young men in their passage from boyhood to manhood and to serve as Christian support system for men facing critical situations.

Pastor’s Aid

Ministry to provide aid, love and support to Rev. Dr. Wayne L. Moore and his family. For more information, contact Sis. Marie Rowley.

Ushers Ministry

Mission Statement: The usher is a personal representative of Jesus Christ who meets people on a person-to-person basis when they first arrive at church. An usher is also one who helps members and visitors feel comfortable, direct those who have come to worship and serves with spiritual dignity during the whole church service. Ushers are persons who have accepted the challenges of a person-to-person ministry in the church and thus strive to establish a standard of excellence, which they know the Pastor and the people have come to expect. Wellness Ministry

Mission Statement: The Wellness Ministry is to be faithful to the task given us by the Lord to do for those who cannot help themselves, to give of one’s time and talent for the cause of Christ. Nurses reveal their image of God through serving God’s people wherever and whenever needed. A good nurse is God’s love on display. Women’s Ministry

Mission Statement: Women in the New Testament were not spectators. They played an active, vital and vibrant role in the day-to-day function of the church according to their respective spiritual gifts. In the same manner, the women of Olivet Missionary Baptist Church are not content to be spectators. We are intercessors as well as intervenors. We are women of prayer and action. The purpose of Women’s Ministry is to help nurture, mentor and motivate all of the women of OMBC to fullness in Christ that equips and propels them into a life of prayer and action. Youth Ministries

Youth Works

Mission Statement: To provide activities designed to:

  • Attract youth to become involved and to become Christians.
  • Develop and nurture their spiritual growth once they have become Christians.
  • Train and send out into the world, a group of powerful youth evangelists who can bring in unsaved youth.

Youth/Teen Church

Church services offered specifically for children ages 3 – 18 every Second Sunday of the month. For more information, contact Sis. Belinda Jernigan.

Youth Choir

Music ministry for children ages 3 – 21. The youth choir sings each fourth Sunday during 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. For more information, contact Sis. Denise Johnson.

Youth Ushers

Youth ushers serve each third Sunday during 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. For more information, contact Sis. Rhonda Carney.

Boys to Men

Helping young boys develop into Godly young men. Boys to Men participate in monthly development activities and a yearly camping trip. Reverend Clint Johnson and Deacon Lamont Hedgespeth

God’s Princesses

Helping young girls develop into Godly young women. God’s princesses meet monthly and minister through dance periodically throughout the year. Little God’s Princesses, ages 5 – 10. God’s Princesses, ages 10 – 18. For more information, contact Sis. Belinda Jernigan.
